Adamsville Loses Tight Match With JCS Picks Up First Win Against McKenzie

We played a very tough JCS in a close match to start the season.  I am very proud of all the guys.  Congrats to E for his first goal of the regular season.  We looked a little confused during the beginning of the first half but the guys were able to pull it together in the second half.  Barkley, great job so far this year.  You have always shown you can be an effective defender but plays like yours early Tuesday swing momentum and change games.  Bart way to use your head!  I know I know Ethan it was a cross.  Not a shot.  But you made up for it in the second half, congrats on the first hat trick of the season.  Casey, the only thing that's better than playing through the pain is playing through it without telling me... No really...  You have had an excellent start and played well.  Graham and Walker... No regular season goals yet you have been instrumental in our success.  Don't forget it and keep up the good work.  Lots of credit to our rookies you guys (Dustin, Christian, Quinten and Jake) have stepped in when we need you and are showing improvement.  Warshaw nice D today.  Grey, you beat me in golf the last time we played, what am I saying, everytime we play so your lucky I even mentioned you.  :)  Thanks Steph for all the hard work!!  Sheets!!!  You have hustled all season keep it up you encourage everyone.  Seth, way to hold the middle.  Thanks for giving 100% and never complaining..  Sorry you have to put up with Ethan.  Even worse you both have to put up with Nell....  SAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Kevin... Someone else will eventually wear number 7.  Choose wisely Maness, Cooper is watching.  Sasha, if you ever get two goals in one game your coming out.  I love my hair too much and cannot part with it.  Sparks, aggressive off the bench.  That's what I like to see.  Ahh.. Sprayberry.  What can you say about a guy that tricks out his truck and wears camo... Your the man...  Thanks for everything.  I look forward to a great season with you guys.  Coach Wood.

Schedule/Jamboree Update

Well I thought I posted the 2009 Schedule.  I uploaded it to the server but forgot to change the link from last year.  It's correct now, I guess I owe everyone a sheet a paper.  In addition, the Jamboree has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.  Also, I am going to need some parents to take turns collecting money at the gate during each of our home games.  Please email me and let me know what game/s that you would be willing to work the gate.  We also need to begin raising funds for team expenses.  These include referee fees, tournament fees, travel, supplies, equipment, banquet expenses and jerseys.  The uniforms we have now will need to be replaced in the very near future.  If you would be willing to help organize activities to raise funds please email me.  Thanks, Coach Wood.

If you are interested in making a donation or organize a fundraiser please contact Coach Wood. The team will be cleaning up after graduation, the funds we receive will cover this fall's tournament. Please meet on the field as soon as possible so that we can get things moved back inside. Official practice begins on July 28th but I will be holding tryouts toward the end of July. September 5th 2007

The Lady Cardinals experienced their first lost of the season Tuesday against returning District Champions Jackson Christian School.  The girls were coming off a big win over Trinity Christian Academy in which they dominated most of the game.  Their other win coming from a 4-1 victory over Wayne County.  A tie with McNairy Central leaves them coming into Thursday's game with a record of 2-1-1.  With Lexington Thursday and Riverside Tuesday Adamsville looks to improve there record and put the JCS lost behind them.  The girls have shown their ability and should have no problem rebounding.  We have USJ and Central in the back of our heads but we aren't looking past anyone.  We will been moving some players around due to injuries but Coach White and I are confident the rest of the team can pick up the slack.  We are extremely proud each one of these girls.  They have really raised the bar this year and the proof is evident on the field.  Thanks to all the parents for there continued support.

Adamsville Defeats Northside 2-0

The girls played yet another outstanding game.  Mary Katherine Meek scored her first goal of the season.  Adamsville's other goal was scored by a ball deflected of a Northside player.  Jill Brasher and Autumn Waller played well defensively.  Northside plays rough soccer and does not allow opponents time to make plays.  Coach White and I are proud of the the way they have stepped up to get the win.  They are playing more aggressive every game.  Our overall record is 5-3-1 district record is 2-2-1.

JCS Defeats Lady Cardinals (1-0)

The Lady Cardinals played a tough game against top rated Jackson Christian School last Tuesday.  Goalie Emily Smith played an outstanding game racking up more than 15 saves.  Stephanie Combs was an aggressive force.  Freshman Rebecca Moore and Corrie Hill did well despite changes in formation and positioning.  We couldn't be more proud of the girls.  They played hard the entire game and never gave up.  We are looking forward to our next game against Southside on Tuesday.

Lady Cards Defeat Lexington (2-1)

Thursday's game against Lexington began like the last two.  Lexington took an early lead despite the fact that Adamsville dominated time of possession.  Katie Hill scored Adamsville's first goal off an assist by Stephanie Combs.  Adamsville's second goal came following a corner kick.  Kristen Azevedo made a great play heading the ball in giving Adamsville there first district win of the season.  The girls played a tough game.  Lexington has always been a very physical team and Thursday was no different.  Mary Katherine Meek and Lani Rinks played well defensively.  Goalie Emily Smith earned 8 saves for the day.  Tuesday we host Jackson Christian School at 5:00 p.m.  Come out and support the team.

AHS 2 TCA 2

After a disappointing performance against McNairy Central the girls mounted a big second half comeback against Trinity Christian Academy.  TCA led at the half 2-0 in a game almost completely dominated by Adamsville.  We still have to work on attacking the ball but the girls are playing more aggressive each game.  Katie Hill scored Adamsville's first goal.  Stephanie Combs scored Adamsville's second goal and played an outstanding game.  Mary Katherine Meek also played an outstanding game defensively.  Jill Brasher has shown continued improvement over the last few weeks after moving into a new position.  She played with intensity Tuesday and that is what we need.  Coach White and myself were proud of the improvement the girls showed since last Thursday.  We have suffered a loss, came back to tie, and we are looking forward to a win against Lexington on Thursday.  I'd also like to thank all the parents for their support.

We will be playing McNairy Central on Thursday.  McNairy finished one of it's best years ever last season.  They won district and placed well at regional.
